Belle-Noir Communications Gears Up To Bring the Plus Community Back To Basics

New York, NY, 10/29/2009:  To jump start the excitement of embarking on a new year, Belle-Noir Communications, one of the first online plus size lifestyle media and events companies is preparing to revolutionize the plus community with everything needed to live life in a big and beautiful way; starting with the re-launch of Belle-Noir Magazine on November 1, 2009.

Though the plus community has made several strides in the right direction, there are still many misrepresentations of plus size women.  Belle-Noir Communications is taking it back to basics by strengthening their mission to be the voice and advocate for Everyday Plus Size Women of every social, economic and ethnic class.

Belle-Noir Radio will continue to kick off this initiative and its 6th Anniversary on November 8, 2009, with special guests, Plus Fashion Designer Gayla Bentley, Skorch Magazine Co-Founder Jessica Kane, and a major announcement from R. Media Group CEO & Founder, Renee D. Jennings.  Belle-Noir Communications is also in preparation for the Spring Tour of their signature event, Curves and Cocktails; with select cities to be announced in early 2010.

About Belle-Noir Communications
The journey began in September 2003 when a group of plus size women of Color in a Yahoo Group were discussing the lack of positive representations of plus size women. Print magazines for plus size women were folding and those for women of Color were lacking in their coverage of the plus community as a whole.  The representation of plus size women online were mostly an exploitation on adult entertainment sites.  With a B.A. in Communications along with successfully completing web/graphic design as her minor from Marymount Manhattan College , Aja B. Stubbs, created Belle-Noir Magazine.

After four successful years as a bi-monthly online magazine, Belle-Noir Magazine transitioned to a blog format in an effort to provide “bakery fresh” content to our readers on a daily basis.  Belle-Noir Magazine has gown from a bi-monthly e-zine into Belle-Noir Communications, home to: Belle-Noir.com – The blog for plus size women of Color, Belle-Noir Radio – Internet Radio Show featuring interviews with movers & shakers in the plus community, Phat Poetry – A poetry/spoken word event created to feature poetry for, by and about plus size men and women and Curves & Cocktails: The Ultimate Girls Night Out for Women with Curves shopping & socializing event.

Belle-Noir’s goal is to show the plus size community and the world that all plus size women; regardless of social, career or economic status are beautiful!
