Here’s a quick and easy (and very frugal) gift idea for holiday giving:
Buy several large bags of dried kidney, pinto, pink and great northern beans.
Gather up all those quart jars you’ve been saving through the year – one for each gift.
In each quart jar, layer two inches of each type of bean.
Cap with a wax paper square – flute the edges with pinking shears for a festive touch.
Seal with a squeaky-clean lid.
Wrap a bright ribbon and bow around the neck of the jar, with the recipe for your favorite chili beans printed on the tag suspended from the ribbon.
