Accessories
There's a common misconception that just because clothes are plus size, accessories have to be plus size as well. Not so at all, even though some larger accessories can be used to draw the eye and balance the body shape. Accessories are important for any chic fashion look, creating an overall theme, balancing and enhancing an outfit and creating a total picture that is complimentary to the wearer's age, hair, eyes and shape.
Look for accessories that complete a theme. Accessories should not be selected to match the outfit's color precisely. Choose accessories that bring a complementing color or color range to an overall outfit and make it 'pop' into focus. Does that navy suit have a subtle pale blue pinstripe? Pick a scarf in a similar pale blue. Think PearlsWhen setting out to develop a "library" of accessories, keep in mind some must-have fashion accessories in materials that you might not consider otherwise. Keep your eye on your budget, and don't spend your entire year's piggybank on only one item - unless, of course, that one item is an accessory that can act as the mainstay of your fashion accessory library.Think HatsThere was a time when no self-respecting lady left the house to go shopping without white wrist-length gloves, a stylish bag (and matching heels), and her hat. Her hat spoke volumes about her style and fashion sense, with the gloves, bag and heels acting as supporting cast for the show. The gloves are off now for most of us, but the hat is definitely making a re-appearance as a fashion-forward essential, without appearing retro or vintage. |
